weekend reading2

Here’s a look at what I am reading this weekend! I was always a JFK, Jr. fan. Hope it doesn’t disappoint!

What are you reading this weekend? Post it to the blog!

Reading in the USA!

Are you traveling somewhere during the holiday season? Make the trip interesting by reading a book that takes place in the same state you are visiting. If you aren’t visiting anywhere, think of a place you would like to visit. If you can’t find a book you are a looking for, ask the library staff!

Thank you all for your continued support of the Tompkins HS Library! The library staff could not do what we do without our incredible students, staff, administrators, and volunteers!

The Falcon Book Club talks The Book Thief.

The Falcon Book Club met during lunch today to discuss October’s book club book, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

While eating lunch, we discussed various aspects of the book, watched the trailer for the upcoming movie, and made plans to see the movie on Sunday, November 17th. Most of the students recommended that the book to others, however, they overwhelmingly agreed that it was a very sad book and to be aware of that. Would we expect anything less with Death as a narrator??

What is a book club without freebies?! Our book club members left today with a book! No “book thieves” here! They were FREE!

Special thanks to Coach Dye, who read the book and also participated in both of our book club discussions during lunch! 🙂

Our next book club will be an iChoose book club. Bring a book that you have read for fun and share it with the rest of the book club! We will meet during lunch on Friday, December 6th. Click HERE for the official flyer.

I’m reading ALLEGIANT this weekend!!

Yes, I know Allegiant officially came out on Tuesday, but I haven’t had a chance to sit down and read it. Don’t worry though, that will all change beginning TONIGHT!!

In case you have been living under a rock and have no idea what I’m talking about, Allegiant is the 3rd book in the Divergent trilogy. The books were written by debut author Veronica Roth.

Click HERE for a brief description of the first two books in this trilogy (Divergent & Insurgent).

Rick Riordan wows the audience at MRHS!

Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus series (and more!), spoke to a crowd of 800+ at Morton Ranch High School tonight. If I said he was incredible, it would be an understatement. Not only is he an incredible author, but he is an equally talented storyteller. He had the crowd laughing for an hour over his silly pictures, funny stories, and comedic presentation.

Local bookstore, Blue Willow Bookshop, hosted the sold out event. My daughter and I were fortunate to be able to volunteer during the event. We packed autographed books into boxes and helped organize them into different sections. We also checked tickets at the door. So much fun!

They even gave away “Camp Halfblood” and “Camp Jupiter” shirts!
