Weekend Reading

ebolaLike most people around the world, I’ve been very interested in reading about ebola lately. I’ve read news article after news article and even race to be home before 5:30pm each night so that I can watch the national evening news about ebola updates. I learned about THE HOT ZONE after speaking with one of our Falcon English teachers. It didn’t take much for me to take an interest in the book. I’ve read about 60 pages so far and can’t wait to get home tonight and continue reading. This is seriously the scariest book I have ever read…and it’s nonfiction!

The_Hot_ZoneThe Hot Zone by Richard Preston

A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days 90 percent of its victims are dead. A secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized to stop the outbreak of this exotic “hot” virus. The Hot Zone tells this dramatic story, giving a hair-raising account of the appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their “crashes” into the human race. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zoneproves that truth really is scarier than fiction.
